False. People in St Louis are too cultured and eastcoastbigcity to care about little old country-ass KC.

WOOOO!!! I called it!

I figured Kansas City would get an IKEA before St. Louis because IKEA tends to space their stores apart except in the very largest metropolitan areas. I get the sense that Chicago's territory includes cities like St. Louis, Milwaukee and Indianapolis. On the other hand, the nearest IKEAs to Kansas City are in Dallas and Denver, which are very far away. I imagine Omaha and Wichita would be part of Kansas City's territory. St. Louis and Des Moines could choose between Kansas City and Chicago, and Tulsa could choose between Kansas City and Dallas.

Really? It was all over the KC media. The morning the news broke I first heard it from a KC local on facebook, then they talked about it on 96.5 the buzz and when I jumped on kansascity.com it was a major article on the front page.

Ikea is so overrated to me. I went to the one in Denver 2 weeks after it opened and there was barley anywhere to park in the parking garage. Way to much hype. I only really went there to tasted the food, but it wasn't that great. Oh, and it's overpriced.

With alerts set up on Bing.com, I've been watching news on the store. Now a former employee, I'm watching news coverage on various local affiliate websites about today's grand opening. Congratulations to all and hope the market enjoys the retail theatre that the Swedish home furnishings company provides!
