Everyone? You invalidate your post already with unrealistic superlatives.

Texas and the SW draws from the entire nation, not just KC. However, KC also has people moving from Texas to KC but Texas pulls more.

See this migration map (click on hide lines for better view). Overall, KC metro has a net positive migration from around the country.

Enjoy your 10 month summers in Houston.

They are moving for jobs. KCMO has lackluster job growth compared to much of Texas. Climate wise, I could never move to Texas as I would constantly be plotting escape trips. Texas just isn't worth moving to for me, but I know others enjoy it.

Lots of KCitians down here. Even as far back as 1985 when I moved here, I saw Missouri and JoCo plates daily. All area schools have large alumni contingents here.

It's not because KC sucks, because it doesn't. All of us speak fondly of our roots there, and so do those who moved to KC, then to Texas. It's just a more vibrant, diversified economy here, with little snow/ice and alot less cold weather. Plus the culture is such that Midwesterners feel welcome here and identify easier with the Texas subcultures. Whether you want cosmopolitan feel or C&W, we have it here.

Even if I made less, if I can make decent wages in KC, I'd pick it over any Texas city. Texas has a lot to offer, however I prefer the scenery, weather and character of KC to any Texas city. However, I know my opinion is in the minority.

Ironically, my SO came to KC from Austin six years ago, for a job.

Prior to Austin, he'd lived in West Texas, at Big Bend NP. He does love Texas, but definitely favors remote Texas over the cities. I enjoy Austin, myself, but don't know that I'd pick it over KC. No other cities in Texas appeal to me enough to live in, except possibly San Antonio.

^My sister came to KC from Austin/San Antonio too. She outgrew the college town culture and preferred the maturity of KC's arts scene so decided to move here (Plaza, then Brookside). Houston is deplorable methinks - a place to just exist for the sake of working. Very few cities worse than Houston but they have the jobs.
