So I got a DNA test from 23andme.

It came back with the below (give or take a few percent):

71% White (6% Southern European and 47% Ashkenazi)
20% Black
2.5% American Indian
1% Asian

I know that this doesn't quite lead up to 100% and the browser where I am right now won't let me see the exact breakdown, but you get the big idea.

I have the most status qo sounding Hispanic name on earth so I always filled out the Hispanic Ethnicity Checkbox, but only coming back with 6% Southern European Ancestory has me second guessing that.

Should I check off African American or something? Mutt maybe? WTH?

Check all that apply. The official EEOC criteria has a multi-race option.

I do, but when do I stop? If I am 1% Asian for example, should I check that?

Thanks

Don't worry about it. The EEOC stuff is voluntary and has no effect on hiring decisions. Check off whichever box you feel like, or none if you prefer.

NJBest and I are debating this right now. I disagree based upon experiences. I don't want to turn my whole thread into that debate, just mentioning it.

I believe that I would have to check the box that says 2 or more races and then decide whether or not I am Hispanic or not...if I remember correctly. I think I'd rather forget. I really despise looking at the form to be honest.

Do you even know what the term Hispanic means? You can be of any race and be Hispanic according to the US government.

The EEO form is not considered in the hiring process, no one in the hiring process views EEO info.

Nevermind the political idiocy of US government labels; what do you think you are?

You are way overthinking this. We have over 2,000 employees and no one in the hiring process sees or knows anything about your EEOC responses.

No I don't know what Hispanic means and still don't in accordance with this thread:

There is a very sharp division as to the definition as you can see.
