I had a job interview Wednesday for a customer service relay job that deals with death people and their personal information ..I was told that I start work training as soon as my background check comes back clear. I only listed one previous job (I got fired from the other two) but being that I only listed one job , my background check results should have came back already? ..right? I have no criminal record. Is there a chance that my real work history popped up during this background check? I didn't have to take a drug test or anything. I don't remember having to state my SSN # when signing the consent form but I did have to put it when I first filled out the job application. I really need this job and the wait is really getting to me. Any advice would be great!

It is possible that your old work history was detected during the background check, since they use your SS number to run the check. This is my suspicion, maybe someone can clarify.

I had a background check run for a job that I applied for, and old residence addresses I had (from 20 years ago) showed up.
I never listed them on the application. I was surprised.

Sometimes they can take about a week. They have to send your former employer the authorization form requesting the information. It could be that your former employer hasn't responded yet. That's what happened to me. Mine took almost two weeks because there was a backlog from my ex-employer and they hadn't gotten to it yet.

They can take a while. It pulls up all kinds of stuff, even credit history sometimes.

Your credit history will show the previous employers if you applied for any credit during that time, or gave it to any existing lenders when they asked to update information. Also, a full background check can include Facebook, Linkedin and other social media where you may have mentioned a previous job or even getting fired. Any omission or falsification will almost always result in dismissal of an applicant. I would give you a 1-5% chance. Still hope, but keep looking.

Its possible your credit check can show previous employers, but my report didn't show anything at all. If its really bothering you, pay for your own credit check and find out. Its probably good to see anyways. Otherwise they can't find out your previous employers.

Well I spoke to an employee who is currently working there and they said it took them 2-3 weeks to start working after interview and background check was complete. I know every one situation is different but being the same company this has given me some hope.

Did this other person also misrepresent their work history on their application?

Here's the deal with background and credit checks:
Very few employers expects perfection from applicants but they will all expect truth.
