So, some of these online applications require you to enter a social security number. I have a problem with this! I will give this possible employer my ss number AFTER they show interest in hiring me and not before. We live in a world where every company thinks we should just carelessly throw that crucial piece of information around like its some meaningless number. These shameless companies should be held responsible for what info they require and should also be held responsible for destroying this info if you are not hired. It makes me worry what they do with your online application if your not hired. Is it just sitting in an online database somewhere? Cyber criminals need not hack into credit card companies or banks to obtain your info when a great source of easily obtainable personal data is right there and I'm sure has many many less security measures than cc companies. So, what would happen if I just put in a random group of numbers in the place of my ss number? Has anybody ever tried this and got the job?
