What's the big deal about resigning these days - like you have some emotional connection with an organisation are supposed to feel indebted to them. You can only put up a job for so long - a new job can give you that spark to work harder.

Far better to work really hard, be passionate, inspired motivated over period of a few years - and resign at the top of your game, and leave a job opportunity for someone new than to hang in there for two or three years longer were your not learning anything new, not adding anymore value and feel demotivated. Were not all corporate robots who can continually be super motivated, endlessly working hard sitting at a desk year in year out- we are free human beings who need inspiration, motivation, new challenges, and new experiences. Its about your experiences, your personal motivations, we don't exist to serve the purposes of a company.

Familiarity breeds contempt

I vow to change jobs every few years - I think with right environment, the right people, and with an extremely high level of motivation/work you can achieve more in a few years than years of plodding along and paying your dues.

It depends on the organisation/career, you might need years to make an impact in some, but other careers are better suited highly motivated 2 or 3 year stints.
