I had an interview at 11am lasted about 1:15min, by 3pm of the same day I was contacted by their human resource department. I came out from my interview feeling really good, I honestly feel I did great! This is the email that I received, please let me know what you think?

Wanted to follow-up with you on the xxxxxxx position at xxxxxxx. Tom xxxxx, let me know that he would be very interested in hiring someone with your skill set for his projects with xxxxxx xxxxxx, but he is not certain yet when that will be. It could be 2 weeks out from now, so wanted to let you know. We may go ahead and check your references now, so that we are ready when that time comes.

I'm taking it as "Depends on how long it takes to contact your references"

Don't count your chickens until they are hatched...

But that sounds good to me!

Thanks much for your quick feedback. I have never had a situation similar to this, usually in the past, they have call me to tell me they would like to hire me, or a simple letter saying no thank you.
Thanks

It sounds as if they wanted to hire you but they had to put the position on hold.

That said, you should continue your job search in the meantime.

Yep, they seem interested and likely to hire you but there is some reason that prevents them from doing so right now. Definitely keep looking because they may never be in a position to hire you.

One way to keep contact would be to check in on a weekly basis to ask for an update and to see if they need anything from you.

Good Luck
