macy's sucks anyway... its one of the worst department stores up here. NM, nordstrom and even bloomingdales is better IMO.

Good point, Jimbo. Some people think that Macys is like the holy grail of stores.

Quick question to folks that have been around Jax for a while.

What ever became of May-Cohens? I know that Dillard's bought out Ivey's, but what about May?

Thanks is advance!

May was bought by Federated who was bought by Macy's.

May-Cohen (along with Robinson's on the Gulf Coast) converted to Maison Blanche, who eventually sold some of their Florida stores to Gayfers. Gayfers was bought by Dillard's, who ended up buying Maison Blanche as well.

I was just in Macys....just left the store. Its a nice set up. I could totally understand why folks would want one in their city. It reminds me of Dillards just a bit though. I got some nice polo shirts.

think he was asking specifically about the May store in Jax. And I guess, why it is not now Macy's.

Wow, Maison-Blanche and Gayfers...I remember both from my very early years...so weird to think of those names now.
