Hello all,

I'm coming back to Jacksonville for a visit early next month and will be in town for about 5 days.

I lived in the Jax area for a couple years and moved early in 2005.

What new restaurants/shopping areas/attractions, etc. should I check out that would be new since then? As I was leaving, the St. Johns Town Center was just opening and I never got there.

What's the Crab Cake Factory like?

I'd love to hear any and all recommendations!

Definitely make a plan to check out the SJTC. There are a lot of good restaurants to choose from and some stores you won't find anywhere else in NEFL. P.F. Chang's is a favorite of mine for lunch and I really like The Grape for wine and appetizers.

San Marco has spread and grown some. There are some new restaurants up closer to the Southbank that have gotten great reviews. The San Marco Art Festival is coming up soon too (Feb 28th).

Downtown has some more clubs and restaurants: Downtown Jacksonville : Arts, Sports & Entertainment (http://downtownjacksonville.org/things-to-do/arts-sports-and-entertainment/ - broken link)

The Crabcake Factory is good. It's sort of a standalone, it's just in a strip mall center, but it's close enough to the beach to head out to the beach bars afterwards if you want to make a night of it. My favorite *new* (since 2005) restaurant would probably be Sekisui in Lakewood....it's really, really good .

Oh that's too bad! Good thing I'm not into football anyway.

Speaking of football, have there been a lot of positive changes since the Superbowl? Like new stores and restaurants coming in?

No, they didn't. They went 12-4 in 2005 and made the playoffs.
