The oceans are running Red with mixtures of oil and some are talking about holding or buying BP?
Yes, this is an investing forum. Go discuss the political nature of this issue elsewhere.

Is money going to save the creatures of the shallows or the deep that will or have been affected bIy the sludge of oil?
No, and I agree that is sad, but it will put my kids through college and help fund my retirement, which is my goal.

Invest yourself in oil clean up and invest your money in solar energy!
If they were profitable I would, but they're not, so I won't. And just for the record, I don't actually own any BP stock - I'm an XOM guy myself.

Seems pointless to believe we can invest and profit in some oil companies when most homes are not up to par with available solar technology.

Savings? Sure. I save around 30% of my former electric bill using solar technology. 1.5 years and the system is fully paid. OOPS! It already paid for itself and we are reaping the bennies. To me that is investing.

even if every home was, you'd STILL need oil for transportation and plastics purposes. Do you realize how many things are derived from oil?

It IS surprizing that oil prices per barrel are not up more. I can see that coming , it has to effect the cleanup costs and the harmed folks in the Gulf, let alone the insurance costs...... Just how much profit IS there in oil drilling anyway, how long can BP go and still be competative? No Company should be that big, that they can pay out billions upon billions, and still be profitable. Its time to rethink the industry and how it influences our enviorement....I remember when oil was 5.00 a barrel, and the industry was hurting, but did survive, with Government help.

BP PLC declined to comment Sunday on a report that it is in talks about possibly selling 8 billion pounds worth of assets, including a stake in Alaska's Prudhoe Bay oil field, to U.S. oil company Apache Corp.
Is Apache the play here...
