BP stock may take a different turn soon. The British Government is involved in talks with the US Administration now about the future of BP in the US.... BP is England's darling, a national institution that is invested in by retires, pensioners, and the banks. The largest corporation in the Country will not be allowed to be watered down with out a fight, stay tuned for some dramatic announcements from the Obama Administration.

There will be a Gulf revitalizing Plan coming. It will address the endless clean-up along with International agreements between BP, the US and British Governments.

I'm a believer in green(er) energy too, but I'm also a realist. We are going to need oil for several years more before things like natural gas, electric, and hydrogen start powering our transit. How are you going to build plastics for electronics, household and commercial uses? Oil is used for many more things than simply getting people from Point A to B.
Petro Oil will always be a widely used commodity. The goal is to be diversified in our energy usage, just like we should be in our investment strategies.

Plastics, lubricants, hydraulic fluids and literally thousands of products can be and are produced by seed oils.
One of the first vehicle bodies were made completely out of hemp. The seed oils made the binders similar to fiberglass. The fiber was used as the matte material. Ford was pretty advanced.

Early attempts by Ford and others met with disastrous results. The soy based " plastics", melted in the sun ! I am sure today they have better products. WWII made a lot of this research possible, and resulted in some bad products like synthetic rubber. However , through continued advancements ,...we get some success. It IS time to move forward, oil is not the only answer, its just the one that we have been comfortable with all these years.

No they're not, they're making tons. The stock has dropped 50% since this thing started and they're covering.
