Anyone have experience with Edward Jones? What are their primary fees to the customer?

Years ago, so what I know has long been outdated.

It is/was a traditional broker that will charge you alot for brokerage and offer some mass media advice. My last experience was over 15 yeas ago and a trade would cost you $95+, but there was not account charge as I recall.

Your typical Edward Jones branch will probably not have any finance experts. Just salespeople who know some of the basics. You could learn just as much (or more) by reading a couple books. Some investors either have a hard time teaching themselves or don't have the time. I think CPA's are much more financially savvy than some of the Edward Jones people.

They have a good money market account and some decent CD's. But don't look for any expert advice from them.

agree. Very good advice.

I also dont take investment advice from 22 year olds. In some regions Edward Jones solicits door to door. Rather amusing retro tactic, actually.

They ALL start going door to door.

Standard training program, they all do what the computer tells them to do, trained as sales people.
(A buddy of mine works for them.)

Edwards Jones really depends on the person, so you need to find reviews about the specific person or DON'T GO. I know a person who got hired by Edwards Jones from college that I would NEVER trust with my money.

The same can be said of ANY financial firm.

Some financial firms have higher hiring standards... Edward Jones still hires a lot of people straight out of undergrad.
