Yet another reason I got away from zuckerberg a couple of years ago. He had all these privacy features. Then one by one they have disappeared. Then he sold data to advertisers. Then the terms changed so you don't completely "own" all your posts and photos. He can use your photos in ads to your friends if you don't check this or that obscure box. It's nearly impossible to completely close your account, and who knows if anything you deleted really is (I'm sure it isn't!) And now this. Don't say you weren't warned. So what . If you dont want to be found in a a search then dont have a Facebook account.
You can still secure your profile with a a privacy setting so that they cant really see anything about you.
I am amazed at how many people still dont do this.
My problem with FB is that they change things and in the process set insecure defaults.. Couple that with the majority of their programmers are monkeys flinging poo at the wall (if it sticks they release)....
In my day job I write code that interacts with the FB API.. it's a joke and they break it all the time causing us to have to scramble to work around their new broken code... If it was anything else we'd have dumped support for interfacing with FB a long time ago (probably never started) however it's the 'in' thing and marketing thinks our customers want it.
Like all fads it will die eventually, then we can scrap that code and write something for the new 'latest and greatest'.. I suppose it does keep my job secure.
