Hi all, new to the forum, but I hope that y'all can help me anyways! I have recently taken a job and will be moving to Indianapolis this summer. I've been trying to figure out where to start looking for apartments to rent, but am a little overwhelmed with all the options. I'm in my mid-20's and single, so I'm looking for an area that would preferably have a decent nightlife scene with a lot of young professionals around.

I am working near the Army airfield, about a mile east of the Indianapolis airport. I have heard a lot of good things about Broad Ripple, but that seems like it may be quite the commute. Accordingly, I've been looking primarily north of I-70 and west of I-65 inside the city, but I know very little about the good/bad areas.

I would really appreciate any advice on good neighborhoods to look in and ones to avoid in this area (and others that may be nice), and any advice about the city in general! Thanks so much.

Broad Ripple is an instant nightlife kind of place. You would be in an area of people your age and have plenty of opportunities to socialize. You could also look at moving downtown ... Riley Towers comes to mind. Sweetana could tell us how long it would take you to get to work from those places. It would probably depend on what time you'd be driving.

I recommend Fountain Square. You'd be close to downtown, and a short jog down I-70 from your place of work.

I agree with Broad Ripple and downtown. You might check out www.circlethecity.com good info available. This site has good info on area stats and demographics. Let me know if you need anything else!

Downtown is fairly expensive... try Fountain Square definitely. If you live on Indy's near eastside you're also close to the Massachusettes Av area without the high cost of being officially downtown. You probably won't find "apartments" per se in these neighborhoods, but houses and duplexes avail. Try Craigs list.
