Which is a nicer place to live between Plainfield and Greenwood?

I will be in Indianapolis this summer and I don't know a thing about either place so please give me your opinion.

You need to let us know what kinds of things you like and value in order to answer that question.

I would choose Plainfield because it is only 25 minutes from downtown,15 minutes from the airport, traffic here is light, great schools, excellent greenway system, still has that small town characteristc/feel,excellent shopping oppurtunities, housing is affordable and the people are pretty nice here.

I'll be working downtown at the university hospital and both locations are equidistant according to google maps, maybe greenwood is a little closer but no huge difference. So I'll either travel on I-70 or I-65.

I like the city life and lots of stuff close by like around 2-3 miles, like movie theaters, retail stores, grocery stores, etc.

From the map, it looks like Plainfield is more separated by the airport... more out on its own. And Greenwood looks "connected" to most of Indianapolis.

I suppose Lawrence is a possible place to live also but it looks like I would have a harder time driving to work from Lawrence.

If this is your primary criterion; then it is a tie. The both have a mall and big box retail. They both have a movie theater, and they both have grocery stores.

EDIT: I should qualify this and say that Plainfield's mall is outdoors; and Greenwood's is a traditional indoor mall.

To me, Greenwood is un-mistakably a suburb; whereas Plainfield does not neccessarily have that feel to it. Personaly, I prefer Plainfield because it feels less like a suburb.

The drive from Lawrence into downtown would be no more difficult than Plainfield or Greenwood.

Plainfield has all of what you mentioned above.

Yes Plainfield is more seperated and on our own I think that is a key reason why Plainfield is Plainfield. Plainfield and Indianapolis dont share a boundary (unless you count the airport)

Lawrence would be a more difficult drive into downtown lots of stoplights and traffic along Fall Creek Pkwy/Binford Blvd and Massachusetts Av. I-465/70 on that side of town is known for its high volume of traffic

I would opt for Plainfield. I used to spend a lot of time in Greenwood, but I hardly go there anymore, thanks to a new mall and other restaurants in Plainfield. Plainfield is hot, and Greenwood seems to be on the decline.

I personally would choose Plainfield. Greenwood feels a little overcrowded to me. I could be wrong on this but I think Greenwood is alot closer to downtown Indy than Plainfield so if that is what you are looking for then choose Greenwood. I like Plainfield because it is further out of the way from the hustle and bustle but Plainfield still has everything you need right there. And they have a pretty cool mall.

yup Plainfield.→ I was in Greenwood the other day...And the traffic on 31 reminded me of Long Island.► (thats bad!) It was wall to wall cars at 1:30 pm.~ Shopping center and lights...one after the other. Looked clean...but real buzy; quite the opposite feel on Main St {US40} in the 'Field'.

I can see US 40 from my house. The traffic along Main street is really easy going.
