I think I've settled on a potential place to live. Just wondering what your thoughts are on Eagle Creek area. On first look the houses look expensive but that could just be because they are gated or secluded around the lake. If I rent around there will I be in a safe area - ie I can walk about safely in the evening for example with my wife and not be afraid of robbery, muggings etc?

Thanks.

Ok I thought so but I had also looked up local news of the area and

Man beaten and robbed at gunpoint near Eagle Creek | WISH-TV

this article about a man being beat up on 38th - a few blocks west of where my job is on 38th

and another about a man shot and killed east of eagle creek but close by - within 5 minutes

and another article about some murder south of eagle creek.

Is this common? This doesnt make me feel safe

w 38th I thought was alright on the western part but now I'm having second thoughts?

I don't know what to tell you. I never had a problem when I lived over there, or when I've used the trail and visited the park. If you're afraid to live there, don't. Live in Brownsburg.

Eagle Creek is pretty safe from what most people think. It is in MSD Pike Township, which don't have the greatest reputation among many Indy people, but they're not terrible. I would say if schools matter, you could look in Avon, Brownsburg, or Zionsville.

I personally have considered the area, it could be safe... but is so close to a high crime area that concerns me. I prefer to carry my firearm or would have a dog etc. I would probably take valpofan11's advice on looking in the surrounding towns.
