Does anyone know about Anderson Indiana. The home prices are so cheap. You can rent for $750-900/mo for a nice house or can buy for $30-80k vs other Indianapolis area houses that's really good deal.

What do you think about the future population of Anderson. Jobs? There are some new factories and hospitals being built. What do you think about the future of the economy, housing prices, rents ETC?

Anderson is the epitome of the rust belt city. So much of its economy was tied to manufacturing, specifically the automotive industry, when that cratered it took the city and surrounding area with it.

It may be reviving somewhat, but from what people tell me it's still in pretty bad shape relatively speaking.

The public schools and now township schools are abysmal and getting worse every year and there are minimal job opportunities above poverty wages for the majority of people. There is no money- the state needs to take advantage of its prized farm land and get it going! When I see the revenue coming in to Colorado it frustrates me to no end because Indy could be doing the same thing. All I can hope is that the old generation of conservatives die off soon so Indiana can truly progress and get with the 21st century. I wont hold my breath though..
Lol, you can't even buy beer on Sundays in Indiana! In fact Indiana is the only state that has this restriction. And you can't buy cold beer in convenience stores and gas stations.

So by my calculations Indiana legalizing marijuana is at least 50 years down the road......

Anderson is so so. There was a recent article that they are using grant money to tear down a lot of vacant homes. Indy should learn from Anderson. Anderson is trying to change itself, but there is still a lot of poverty and blight. The mayor wanted to flood a part of the city, but lots of people are against it mostly due to cost and environmental issues. Anderson might be able to come back a little, as soon as the Pendleton schools area starts booming. This however could take years, as the eastern parts of Fishes and Noblesville still have a lot of room to grow.
