I think Indiana can most easily be broken down into 3 regions: Northern, Central, and Southern.

Northern Indiana has the lakefront, heavily wooded areas around South Bend and Mishawaka, lots of farmland outside of the cities, University of Notre Dame, Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City and South Bend will likely be getting a casino soon as well, and I guess Fort Wayne is kind of in the northern section.

Central Indiana contains IU, Purdue, Ball State, IUPUI, and a host of other large colleges and Universities, Indianapolis, the Colts, the Pacers, a AAA baseball team, Indy 500, and a lot of other stuff. Of course outside of the cities central Indiana is very flat with lots of fields

Southern Indiana, which might as well be Kentucky in nature and accents has Evansville, Jeffersonville which is right across the river from Louisville, the limestone caverns, rolling hills, and of course still a lot of farmland.

What area or region of the state do you like best and why?

Default Northwest Indiana

Main reason is due to proximity to Chicago for high paying jobs while enjoying a lower cost of living to comparable suburban areas of Chicago on the Illinois side.

Right now it is 34 degrees in South Bend and 50 degrees in New Albany. I'll take New Albany in Southern Indiana any day.

This is laughable. Why not just say every border area might as well be in the next area over? Let's give Chicago to Wisconsin. Toledo to Michigan. Southern Illinois to Missouri. St Louis to Illinois.

I thought IU was in southern Indiana .. Anyways my favorite region would be south central around Indy to cities like Bloomington and Columbus.

Before we get to bogged down in OP's geographic knowledge of Indiana, let's remember that at one time he argued there were no interstates in downtown Indianapolis because his GPS sent him on 465 every time he passed through.

Instead the interstate loops around the edges of the city. Personally, I find this kind of annoying, as it takes the longest to go through Indianapolis since I am having to go all the way around, compared to the other cities where I cut straight through.

The only thing to be gained by the interstate going around the city is possibly less traffic. Going right through the downtown the speed limits on the interstate must be reduced, usually to 50-55MPH and traffic is much heavier.

I-65 comes just as close to downtown Indy as it does to downtown Louisville, Nashville, and Birmingham. I've driven through all 3 cities. So the only thing I can possibly thing of is for some reason, you think I-65 follows I-465 around the city, but I really have no idea why you would think that.

All this notwithstanding, there are things I like about Central Indiana, such as Indianapolis. Geographically, I prefer Southern Indiana (Bloomington/IN 46 corridor and points southward) and I am thankful the outside masses don't know much about it.

Southern Indiana suits me just fine, but Northern Indiana will always be home.

As someone who lives in Indiana I'm surprised you don't see this. Southern Indiana is very southern and different from the rest of the state. The rest of Indiana has a lot more in common than it does with southern Indiana. I'm not sure how you can't see this.

What are you trying to suggest? I lived almost my entire life in Indiana, I think I know it pretty well. Just because I am not familiar with downtown Indianapolis and its numerous interstates indicates what exactly...? Usually you seem like a pretty decent poster, but now I'm not so sure.

Debatable. Unless the central region only includes Indy and nothing else surrounding it. If the state would be divided into equal thirds of North Central and South I think Bloomington would make it into Central.
