Columbus is a nice place. I'd suggest going to our city's website or use the Wikipedia.

As far as "best" places to live ... I usually tell folks it depends on the schools. Parkside, Southside, Richards, mount healthy and rock creek are rated high as far as elementary schools (k-6), but we also have 2 magnet schools called Signature academies that aren't boundary driven. There are also a handful of private schools in town too.

Good luck and welcome!!!

I have a very good friend who grew up in Mississippi and she loves the summers here ... hot, humid, sticky for weeks and weeks ...

Winters here, now I grew up in northern Indiana, are much more icy than snowy. Right now, my weather guage says it's 45 degrees. It snowed a smidge last week.

might want to mention not as hot/humid and sticky though as the south.
Indiana is mild in the summer highs usually in the 80s to low 90s depending on the year obiviously.

Default Suggestions?

Hi all! My husband's received papers to report to Camp Atterbury in June. Columbus was one of the cities that were suggested to us to look at. So far I've compiled a list of apartments for us to look at in the area.

I don't want to stick with apartment communities though. I've had a tough time trying to find out where to look at other classifieds. Can any one help here?

We're planning our visit for the beginning of May so that we can see the area for ourselves. Does any one have personal recommendations for interesting spots? My husband's big on history.

Thanks!

Default moving to Columbus

Hello,
I am moving to Columbus Indiana from Germany this summer. My husband will be working at Camp Atterbury. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on registering your kids for school. mine are in elementary. I hear there are some good ones and some bad ones. Do you automatically get your kids in the elementary closest to where you buy a home? We won't be there until July to register,
Thanks,
Joan
