don't give up, just relax. i am in the same boat - for the last couple of years- just temping here and there- in belfast, n ireland. things are only getting worse. thinking about moving back to the states, but where????? no family, but some well-off cousins in expensive places like sanfrancisco , berkley, santacruz, dallas. even when there is no hope, there's hope. better to be homeless, which i have been, than dead. we're only on this earth once, most likely, and if you give up, you'll make me sadder!

@mike - this is a telemarketing job? Phone collections agent or telephone support? Less than $10 / hour? If so, you're proving the OP's point.
No a real job. I own my own business and employ 30 plus people all thru-out indiana. If you go thru my posts you would know what we do. But to save you time. We are subcontractors for the big local cable company. We track down equipment. I finally found(i hope) my answer for bloomington, but have been stuggling with that area since i got here a year ago.

So glad to hear a human show some compassion. Unfortunately, I do believe things will continue to be difficult.

I would have rather seen a bad quicker reset than this long drawn out govt intervention mess.

Man Ireland has some sick, sick debt laws also. Truly disturbing you can be imprisoned for debt.

I lived in Indiana for a long time, as I was born and raised there. Since I have moved all over, and still truly enjoy Indiana - some places are better than others. However, people often do not realize that college towns, such as Bloomington, Lafayette, or South Bend have problems with unemployment because there are so many college students available to do menial jobs for little pay. I was one of those students for a long time. My suggestion to you would be to relocate to another city in Indiana, or you can commute if you like, and try looking for a job there.

Smile been there, done that!

I own a home in Bloomington. As of now, it is fully furnished with no occupants. Reason: I am working in Arizona on contract! I have hope though. I think I'll have a job in Columbus soon. I will commute, so my kids can graduate New Tech HS. Indiana is going thru a tough job scenario, for sure. Try to find a way to get thru this hard time. Be willing to work temporary jobs anywhere you can find them. Return when you can.

I am also feeling discouraged with the job market here. There are jobs-just not a living wage! I relocated with my kids 3 months ago and we do love it otherwise. My rent alone is $1000 a month and I just can't make ends meet on $10 - $14 per hour. I have 20 years customer service experience and 3 years dental front office experience. I am very good at what I do, great references, quick learner and ethical. I am starting to worry. We live in Noblesville.

I would ask where have you looked. Being out in Noblesville, the closest job centers will either be Kokomo (not good) or Carmel. Have you thought about getting more centrally located in parts of Indianapolis where it's easier to branch out to the varying areas like downtown, east side, west side etc? You will definitely open up a larger potential pool unless you are willing to commute long distances from Noblesville.

Well you could consider a new apartment.
Looking at places like Rent.com i have seen apartments in Indy for 500-700 a month.
Also how many kids do you have and are any of them 16 years or older?

LOL of course the Indianapolis area is filled with jobs. Just have to actually get up and take a peak.
as CNBC.com pointed out theres 3.2M job openings in America there is no reason to be unemployed unless your to lazy to get a job or you are only going to work in 1 field.......... can't wait for unemployment to run out.
