OP, if you haven't given up on Indiana entirely, there are some jobs in the Fort Wayne and I have been traveling through NW Indiana (Merrellvilve/DYER areas) and I have seen "Help Wanted" signs. If you have a car and a place to stay, you might consider those two in addition to Indy and maybe Lafayette.

I would suggest avoiding South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart; the economy is flat there. Nice places. Just not much for work there.

as CNBC.com pointed out theres 3.2M job openings in America there is no reason to be unemployed unless your to lazy to get a job or you are only going to work in 1 field.......... can't wait for unemployment to run out.
So what are the strengths of the Indy job market in terms of career fields or types of jobs? You have to remember that the rest of the state is not doing well at all for overall job growth by comparison.

Yep.
But as i have said in the past in this economy if you want jobs you have to be willing to relocate across the country to the jobs regions.

yep.
I am biased towards Indy however another reason ill add why it has the jobs in Indiana is its the Capital and another comparison is Columbus Ohio.
Capital of Ohio and the fastest growing region in the state amongst other state capitals.
