Why is that Watseka mayor and city council members spend money like its water. All they do is find ways of spending money instead of finding ways of saving money and reducing our taxes. I am paying 3% in taxes on my home. Why is it so high? We need to vote for people who can lower our taxes not raise them. It will never end. It will keep going up tell we all are paying 10%, 15% or more in taxes. We all need to fix this now.

I have to say moving here from a 80,000 pop city. I can't believe how high taxes are here considering they don't provide anything like my last city did.

Illinois Real Estate taxes remain in each county. It is used to support schools first, and then city and county services such as 911, hospital, police and fire protection for city and county, city and county government, parks, city and township roods and bridges, plus continuing fire and police homeland security training and education. The state personal and business taxes go directly to Springfield to support the state government and state services through out the state. Federal monies are used to support federal projects such as federal roads, and federal buildings.

If you do not want to pay real estate taxes vote them out. You will have zero services and you will pay to place your children in school in another county. You will pay a fire protection district in another county for your home. If you are really lucky it won't be 30 miles between that fire department and your house. You will pay for ambulance and every police call. Enjoy it.
