Where to move to in Rockford (Orland Park, Time: apartment complexes, rentals, high crime)

I just interviewed in Rockford and think it went well. I have been looking at rentals there, but where is the best to go? I am from the Orland Park area and would like to find a similar area. I like nature, but also to watch the Bears game at a corner pub. Where is the crime centralized? Where do I get the best bang for the buck. Is living on the outlying towns any advantage? Any input would be great!

Look at Forest Glen. I think it’s one of the nicer apartment complexes in the area. You’ll have easy access to 90, Rock Cut State Park is only a few minutes from there, and two of top sports bars are within a minute (Jax and RBI’s).
As a general rule, the further west you go, the bigger the problems get. Of course there are exceptions to that as well. There are million dollar homes on the west side where everyone seems to believe the end of the world is happening around these boards.

Stay away from Rockford, very high crime rate. Westside especially but it is spreading all across the city. We left the area and are VERY glad we got out!
