Nope, it gives to much power to law enforcement, without strict guidelines.
My Aunt and Uncle live in Phoenix. He is an American of Hispanic decent. They are pissed, and he is generally worried that if he forgets his drivers license, and walks to Home Depot (two blocks from their house), that he'll get arrested.
Why should he worry?
As long as he is a LEGAL citizen he's OK.
Forgot his ID? No worries.
Have someone fetch it for him as quickly as possible if he gets detained, so as not to waste his time in a holding cell....or that of the arresting officer(s) who would be stuck with paperwork they probably would rather not have to deal with.....for a LEGAL resident.

This bill will not target those illegal immigrants who happen to be Canadian, Irish, French, or even Ethiopian....it will target those people (legal or not) who happen to "look" Hispanic (specifically mestizo)

You must be a citizen, a resident of the State you plan to vote in and at least 18yrs old, to register to vote. If you are not registered, you cant vote. Now, there are some serious questions on how the voter registration and purging process is handled, none the least of which Ariz, but that issue has been around for quite a long time and certainly isn't perfect.
You only have to state you are a citizen, give your name bithdate and location and address to complete a voter registration form. You do not have to prove anything.

No, they can't. There must be a reason other than suspected illegal status.
The law says that an officer can check your status, if he/she has a "reasonable suspicion".
That gives them the right to check anyones status, for any reason they want.
Its exactly the "suspected illegal status" that this bill opens up for checking.
