Such threats may ring hollow to Democrats in swing districts, who likely have more to lose this year from supporting immigration reform than from ignoring it, political analysts say.
"The greater risk is turning out White (non-Hispanic) voters against you," said Rodolfo Espino, a political scientist at Arizona State University. "It just goes to the basic rule of who votes, especially in a non-presidential year. It tends to be White voters, high-socioeconomic-status voters. So a perennial problem that these Hispanic advocacy groups face is making these threats credible."
Methinks the pro illegal side intuitively sense that their collective gooses (geese) may be cooked.
One thing you over looked, those massive numbers of voters of all cultural backgrounds has already happened and in record numbers. Immigration reform is on the current Admistrations agenda. Mid term elections are not till this November and with 2+ years to go...Amnesty will come up for a vote.

Democrats face counter-threats from groups that oppose any legislation that would allow illegal immigrants to become citizens.
"If they support these bills and they're on the ballot in November, they're goners," said William Gheen

2.5 years is a long time...
Obama is going to attempt to push it through. Chance of amnesty = GOOSE EGG

How do pro-illegal immigration groups and the Open Borders Lobby constitute "Hispanic advocacy"?
That's like referring to the Aryan Brotherhood as an organization legitimately representative of White America, or claiming that the Black Panthers are a "civil rights organization" which speaks for all African Americans, or even that al Qaeda is the voice of the Middle East...

That's exactly what I think! How could the most extremist factions somehow represent an entire class of people? Of course, most of the Hispanic "advocacy" groups are some of the most arrogant and self-aggrandizing people there are. They TRULY believe that they are doing "God's work" and that 50 years from now we'll have named some elementary school after them.

Americans don't vote on immigration matters though, congress does.

Perhaps because these organizations tout themselves as being representative of ALL Hispanics in this country, while nothing could be further from the truth.

Yes, and I am one of those voters. I even voted for Obama. If you believe all who voted for Obama support illegal immigration, you are sorely mistaken.
Being on the “agenda” does not guarantee passage. How many times in the past has an amnesty bill been on the agenda; and how many times has it passed?
