Of course business leaders don't want amnesty....that's only common sense. Those who employ legal help don't want amnesty, because it rewards lawbreakers. Those who employ illegals don't want amnesty, either...they want ILLEGALS, and amnesty would make their illegals legal....(and they can't AFFORD to pay legal wages..or so they say).
Unions? Well of COURSE unions, as a general rule, NEVER want to encourage the 'competition'...and the only "union" I can picture actually helping illegals get any benefit at all, would be a union already made up of illegals.
Even Cesar Chavez (a proud Mexican-American, Arizona born), much as he loved his 'people', was strongly in favor of restricting immigration, and spoke out often against illegals...not because he was a 'Hispanophobe', of COURSE...but because he was a union leader, and saw very clearly that illegal immigrants were a DIRECT threat to his organized farmworkers, and their willingness to 'work cheap' served to undermine all the hard-won advances made by Chavez's UFW over many bitter struggles.

Fast forward to today and it's a huge sector of jobs that have not only been threatened but basically taken over.
