Despite the media’s relentless propaganda about the bogus desirability of illegals, e.g. young aliens in student costumes demanding taxpayer-subsidized college educations, the voting public remains firm in favoring enforcement over rewards for lawbreakers.

I think most American want our laws enforce rather than granting amnesty to reward people who did not come legally.

Rephrase the question to add how much it would cost to enforce the border and how much taxes would have to increase and then get back to me.

According to Gordon Hanson of the Migration Policy Institute, Illegal Aliens cost us $14B per year, we don't spend that much on border enforcement per year ($10B - http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/b...bib_fy2011.pdf). So if we remove the illegal aliens we cut down there costs and at the same time we can lessen border security and cut costs all around. http://www.migrationpolicy.org/pubs/Hanson-Dec09.pdf

Quote:
Based on the profile of immigrant households in the US Current
Population Survey, households headed by an unauthorized immigrant appear to generate a short-run net fiscal cost of approximately 0.1 percent of US GDP.
US GDP is $14.58T x .1% = $14.58B per year cost not counting border enforcement.

Now Gingrich wants to reward those illegals who have managed to break our laws the longest and who have given birth here -- at taxpayer expense of course, just in time for the elderly illegals to get in on Social Security.

Be careful who you vote for. Gingrich brought up grandparents getting legal status, when obviously being illegally in this country didn't bother them for all those years, now why would they require legal status? Social Security checks.

Can you defend your position with facts and information? Also, you completely (or perhaps conveniently) ignore the economic damage caused by the new laws in AL and GA.

Rasmussen Poll: Voters Prefer Border Enforcement to Amnesty by Two to One | immigration polling | Limits to Growth

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters shows that 61% say gaining control of the border is most important when it comes to immigration reform, while 31% say it’s more important to legalize the status of the illegal immigrants who are already here. That doesn't mean they don't support what you call "amnesty" after the border has been secured.

Here is another poll taken 4 years ago. I seriously doubt that Americans have changed their minds today.

"A New York Times/CBS News poll released yesterday found that 69% of adults believe illegal immigrants should “be prosecuted and deported for being in the U.S. illegally.”

illegals have never qualified for welfare or social security

plenty of arguments to use on both sides of the debate. but make them real ones so solutions can be found
