Illegals encouraged to boycott 2010 census - NJ.com

Quote:
BRIDGETON - A national immigrant rights leader on Saturday urged undocumented workers in South Jersey to boycott the 2010 national census.

Rev. Miguel Rivera, head of the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders (CONLAMIC), made his case to roughly 45 to 50 attendees at a meeting of local migrant workers and sympathizers held at the Salvation Army facility on West Commerce Street.

Good, they are just hurting themselves. Less Fed funding means that there will be less to go around and the stealing of services will become much more frowned upon. Verification and audits will be in order.

So long as they aren't surveying WIC lines and social service offices they should be ok.

that boycott is a joke, from some joke apostolic, baptist, fundamental, allah knows what, churches. it wont take off.
latino advocacy groups(since thats who the proponents of this boycott are targetting) are against it. spanish language media is against it (the ones that know about it of course). it wont work. this supposed nat'l org carries lil weight. they are nobodies.

Yes, the boycott is a complete joke. You have to be able to read English, unless it is also printed in Spanish, to fill out the census form. Why would a US Census form be in Spanish, in the first place? As you have to be able to read, understand and speak English to become a US citizen.

For once...I'll have to agree with "The One" (La Ono). I don't see how they can do it, when they're not even on record now.
I think it's just a thread or scare tactic that will only make them look like "more" idiots.

thanks MK and i prefer "unico" in spanish. unus in latin. or yuni-quo when around the hood.

but a post above did create a question for me. arent census takers(the people going door to door) bilingual? or are they only english speakers? interesting.

either way, no boycott.

Guess it depends on the area. They were not bilinual in my area during the last census because I had a discussion with one concerning why he did not go to the houses across the street that were occupied by illegals. There is no need to boycott, illegals dont participate in the census anyway.
