A man responsible for a handful of carjackings in Arizona, most of them in Surprise and Sun City, has been sentenced to 140 years in prison.

Raul Eduardo Gonzalez, 34, was on probation after a criminal trespassing charge in Nevada when he became linked to nine carjackings in Surprise, Sun City, Flagstaff and Williams, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies said in August 2006.

Gonzalez, an undocumented immigrant scheduled to be deported in early 2006, eventually returned to Nevada.

Last thurs on returning home (retired in Mexico) from the VA hospital in San Diego...traffic was backed up at the border by the Border Patrol and NOT the SDPD or Hwy Patrol as per usual.

Parked on the left was a late model PU truck with no rear visible plates and a hispanic man sitting with his arms folded and looking dejected. A NEW PU truck in front of me with no license plates was stopped and the driver handed a ID to the BP person...did not look like a Calif DL from what I could see...he was motioned over next to the first PU. I'm thinking that two stolen trucks never made it across the border.

All new vehicles generally have the DLR ID license frames and a paper insert advertising the DLR...this truck had the paper missing. Most people leave the insert inside until the New plates come from Sacramento with the registration.

I may be right or maybe wrong...shows that the BP is on the ball.

3-time deportee arrested

Jesus Ramon Valenzuela-Duran, 27, address unknown, was arrested Monday on several charges after the car he was driving had been pulled over on Interstate 70 eastbound near the Cameo truck stop. Valenzuela failed roadside sobriety tests and was driving a car reported stolen out of East Carbon, Utah, according to an arrest affidavit. Valenzuela-Duran has a hold from federal immigration authorities which prevents him from posting bond. According to court records, he was deported from the United States in 2001, 2006 and 2007.

San Diego — Border Patrol agents in San Diego yesterday arrested a male Mexican national who previously had been convicted for sex crimes with a minor.

The 53-year-old suspect was arrested at noon without incident at a residence on Broadway Avenue.

Record checks revealed that the suspect received a nine-month prison sentence for his 1985 criminal conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child less than 14 years of age. The suspect was also convicted on July 7, 1997, and served a year in jail for failing to register as a felon sex offender.

The suspect is being held in federal custody without bond and is facing deportation proceedings.

Uriel Vargas Alvarado, 25, is charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, homicide investigators announced this afternoon. His whereabouts are unknown.

Alvarado is accused of assaulting and burning his girlfriend, Juana Patricia DeLeon Hernandez, a 33-year-old single mother, during the attack at the Villa Acapulco Apartments at 9700 Braeburn Glen late Sunday. She remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital’s burn unit with fourth-degree burns to 70 percent of her body.
Quote:
Immigration officials said they had not been able to verify Alvarado’s immigration background today, but suspect he is not here in the country legally. He does not have a Texas driver’s license and has no prior record of arrests in Harris County.

“At this point, we only suspect that he does not have a valid status in the U.S.,” said spokesman Gregory Palmore of the Department of Homeland Security’s Houston immigration office.
