Apparently the good mayor has decided it’s too costly to continue certain aspects of their sanctuary practice. I wonder how many taxpayers realize they were footing the bill for $7,000/mo per illegal alien juvenile being housed in halfway facilities.

I’m sure the fact that Mayor Newsom plans to run for governor in 2010 wouldn’t have any relevance.

Quote:
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom announced today that the city will start turning over juvenile illegal immigrants convicted of felonies to federal authorities for possible deportation, and took the blame for what he admitted was a costly and misguided effort to shield the youths.

Oh don't worry. If SF ever recovers from their financial situations they'll welcome the illegal immigrants back with open arms.

Only the best for these upstanding citizens, right?

That is significant-------that faux liberal SF is now starting to turn against illegals.

Although; as I have commented on in the past.......once the economy starts tanking in California--------the animosity against illegal immigrants will be swift and savage. Precedent was set 70 years ago with the hostility against the 'Okies'-----and, they were US citizens.

Bottom line, Benicar and Arizona Bear . . . this Sanctuary City BS costs BIG BUCKS and once the actual taxpayers realized this fact . . . IT WILL END.

Unfortunately, the "Pot Banging" Illegal Lovers pay very little or no taxes . . . many are tax burdens.

Obviously, Gavin Newsom's Sacramento dream is playing a big role in this "change of heart" as you mentioned.
