Our immigration laws are wrong, arbitrary, and largely ahistorical. US used to have open borders. Besides that, it doesn't matter what we used to do because tradition is not a really great reason for doing anything. This country doesn't belong to citizens, it doesn't belong to white people, it doesn't belong to Christians. It's open to all..
And we shall see ... as the nation grows more diverse, it is possible that there will be more support for opening our borders and amnesty. I believe this will benefit our nation greatly.
Your home and all your possessions belong to everyone as well. Stop being so selfish and racist.
Actually, that is not true. Mexico forms part of North America making them Americans, Central Americans live in Central America which makes them Americans and South Americans are technically Americans because they live in South America. they may not be a US citizen per se but they are technically considered Americans

Your xenophobia is gross too, but what can we do?
Exactly! At least they work jobs that American do not want to work, like the food industry and construction.
There is no such country as North America. Now you're talking geography not geopolitical nations or sovereignty. I as an American cannot waltz into Canada or Mexico and enjoy all the rights and privileges of citizenship in those countries simply because we're all North Americans. Your point is irrelevant
What's gross is your anti-Americanism. Americans have always been in the food industry and worked construction, the latter of which is a skilled industry that lifted millions of people into the middle class. Americans just don't want to do the same job year after year at stagnant or even declining wages.

No one with any sense refers themselves by the continent they live on anyway. They refer to themselves as citizens of a country. There is no government or citizenship granted by continent. You're right on with your remarks that just because we share a continent with Canada or Mexico doesn't make us citizens of those countries nor do we have a right to enter those countries without permission of their governments.
It is sickening that these pro-illegals are so anti-American. You are also correct that Americans have always done blue collared jobs for a fair wage until millions of cheap illegals flooded our border. There are even unlimited visas for legal, foreign crop pickers so why would we need illegals to fill those jobs either?

We have never had open borders since this country was formed in 1776. You always had to have permission of our government to come here. This country does belong to all American citizens, who said it only belongs to the white ones? You're the only one making that claim. It belongs to Christians, non-Christians and all races and all ethnic group if they are citizens of our country. Who has said otherwise?
What does diversity have to do with open borders? Coming here illegally will always be a violation of our immigration laws no matter who you are! Legal immigration is acceptable in reasonable numbers. Illegal immigration is unacceptable and rewarding those who violate our immigration laws is also unacceptable. Rewarding them with amnesty makes a mockery out of our immigration laws and only encourages more to come here illegally. There is no benefit to illegal immigration accept to those who hire them. The rest of us get the shaft in so many other ways.
They aren’t people to me. Just a bunch of leeches siphoning the economy dry to pay for their dead beat families in Mexico. I don’t support a single amnesty of any I hate illegals. Grew up key largo Florida and I’ve lived it
Hate them
That's how I feel about the early Europeans that came here. Most of them were either cowards or felons. Also, it's mostly Cubans and South Americans that live in Florida.

You don't "own" it any more than other person, just as one race/culture/religion/status doesn't "own" it over any other.
The more appropriate analogy to xenophobic racist anti-immigrant sentiment is "we shouldn't allow just anyone to travel into Grand Central Station because some trains come from cities with football teams I don't like..."
Good job! That whole "open your house" argument is a terrible and stupid analogy. It doesn't even make sense

Exactly! People here don't seem to care that immigrants were let in without very little restriction, but now that it's not White Europeans, it's a "problem". They use this place as a sounding board for their racism and xenophobia

Here we go with the race card just like clockwork. FYI, the Mexicans and Central Americans ancestors were from Spain. You know that country in Europe, lol!
The fact is that the early immigrants didn't sneak in here they presented themselves at Ellis Island for approval and health checks not so with illegal aliens. Another fun fact is that Mexicans and other Latinos have held the highest quotas for legal immigration into our country for decades but they are being discriminated against????? Where's the racism and xenophobia then?

I thought they are decendents of the Incas,Mayans and other natives before the Spanish arrive.
There is very little Spanish blood in todays's native Mexicans and Central Americans
