I know one Chicano guy who I suspect would have been pro-illegal and open borders for that ethnic tribalism reason until he lost his own job as a social worker because the newcomers didn't like the way he spoke Spanish and he ended up being replaced with someone from Mexico. The irony is that he was hired in the first place because they figured he understood the culture even though he was born and raised here as well as his parents were born and raised here. He was fired because he didn't speak Spanish with native Mexican fluency.

It would be interesting to find out just how many Hispanic-Americans whose families have been here for generations are pro-illegals. My gut tells me you would unpleasantly surprised.
