Kia Sorento under investigation in US after 15 complaints

Viola Stevens had never heard of a power sunroof shattering until hers did as she was driving 100 km/h on a snowy Alberta highway.

“I had no idea what had happened,” Stevens said. “It was extremely loud. I was in shock. I pulled over, (and) promptly started crying and then realized I was in an SUV convertible and it was snowing and minus 22.”

I hear this happening to many auto manufacturers who use large glass panels in the roof. I'm almost surprised it doesn't happen more often.

It probably has to do with the extreme temperature variances between inside the cab of the car and the outside temps and add in the twisting and flexing the chassis vehicle Goes through on Rough middle of winter pot hole filled FWY or Highway.

I too am not surprised this does not happen more often or it does happen quite frequent but just does not make news headlines so we do not hear about it as much.

Mostly caused by the redesign in the sunroofs and the increase of pressure inside of the vehicle plus there are many more other vehicles where this has happened !!!!
