Wanted a CAT5 for years with 220mph+ gust. Hope that high builds in and can keep on a more west track and at least give me some 80mph gust and 10" of rain. This is a very small core system with the strongest winds around 15 miles from the storm center so it will have to pass close to my area to give me any real wind.
I think i typed it out very clear up above. That would give me a better chance of more rain and more wind. Remember this is a small core system with the strongest winds only about 15 miles from the center. So the more out from the center the winds will drop fast. So it would have to track about dead over me for the strongest winds. And remember this is a east coast bound storm making landfall and it will weaken a good bit by the time it makes all the way to where i live in the gulf and no real surge for my coast.
Worst case for the Tampa area is a land falling CAT 5 with gust over 200MPH coming on shore from the southwest around Tarpon springs as that would push 32ft of water up Tampa bay and nothing would be left standing with gust over 200mph.
This storm won't be anything more than what IRMA brought me and the two state crossing storms back in 04. All them storms only brought me gust to around 75 mph. But it all depends on that upper level low and that high pressure system and how they time out and set up. That is what steers these storms.
Tug of war. Also.. the High to the north is a crucial piece of rhe puzzle. If it weakens Dorian gets pulled north. Apparently it got stronger because Dorian is blocked now and thats why its projected to head into land.
