You know what is hilarious? My spousal unit says they are hiring anyone here to do work at the arsenal... even suggested a career change for me. I laughed it off. If I were going to change careers, I'd be in DC, not here.

I suppose it depends on the the job skills required and who is available here in the local area that wouldn't need relocation expenses paid for.

I wouldn't say they are hiring anyone here...I know a lot of folks struggling to find work that have degrees, but they aren't tech degrees, aren't former military, nor is their experience involve government contracts.
I know quite a few of those folks who are struggling to find work that pays in this area.

It would seems that the Huntsville area jobs is still predominately a "niche" market specialized for the space & defense segment.

And it will be for years to come. Unless some more manufacturing comes here or other commercial companies come here, it will remain that way.

According to my spousal unit, anyone can get a job with minimal skills.

In properly planned communities with VISION they are not located near schools or residences ... Check out NoVa. MMMM>.. when I share this situation with my contacts up North, they are more than appalled. In fact, I know of a few who opted NOT to come here as result.

Good news for the locals cause we're a tough group ... we actually do bite back.
