A lot of those could be in Colorado Springs, Ft. Greely, AK or Vandenberg AFB.

Apparently if you are in the gbument that is not an issue. I'm still informed that an entry level secretary could make up to 50K a year. Hmmm. And I've heard of other contracts... that ... well.. make me go hmmm about the gbument.

I've never heard of an entry level secretary actually making 50k in the gov., even in high cost of living areas like DC. Its certainly unheard of in the contractor environment (at least the two whose financial systems I've supported). It isn't uncommon for experienced admins to make that much or more however.

There are abuses, but they're not as common as the conspiracy theories.

The nation.

Up to 5,000 Layoffs Loom Across Country as Constellation Fight Continues | Parabolic Arc

Huntsville would see some layoffs on Constellation but other sectors have jobs so a lot of those losses could be absorbed. That's why Huntsville is a good place to be an engineer - there are lots of "Plan B"s.
