Looks like preliminary work has begun on the downtown Curio hotel site on Jefferson St.
Preparing the existing building for demolition I suppose removing interior objects of any value.
Once the serious construction begins I believe the staging site for construction materials,
trailers etc will be the vacant lot at the corner of Pratt and Meridian.

A few tidbits downtown, this small parcel of land which has become important is adjacent to the property for the new Redstone Federal Credit Union building which so far has been able to remain secret. So either it will become part (bought) of the Redstone property, or someone else is interested. It's so small it doesn't lend itself to be developed by itself but is in a prime location, corner of Davis/Pelham and Lowery directly across from the ugly bank in Twickenham Square

The city of Huntsville has agreed to demolish the public housing community on Holmes Avenue that has been pegged for closure by the Huntsville Housing Authority.
The HHA announced plans earlier this year to vacate Sparkman Homes because of the poor condition of the facilities.

The city council voted Thursday night for the city to handle the demolition in exchange for a small lot of land owned by the housing authority at Pelham Avenue and Lowery Boulevard adjacent to the Twickenham development.
City Administrator John Hamilton, in speaking to the council, made clear that the decision to abandon Sparkman Homes was made by the housing authority and not by the city. And securing the small piece of land would be useful for private companies expected to soon develop the area.
“This gives us an opportunity to clean up the frontage on Lowery Boulevard and would facilitate some other development that we know is coming adjacent to that parcel. It doesn’t involve the city but it will be some commercial development we know is coming that will be very good for our community.”

also the McDonald's on Governor's next to the hospital is closing, speculation is because of the soon to come new hospital tower and parking garage construction between Blackwell building and Twickenham Square. Mcdonalds is supposedly looking for another
site in the downtown area. Maybe the parcel of land mentioned above? Might still be too small though.

A $10 million project to improve the Greenbrier interstate interchange will get started within days with a project completion target of late 2019 or early 2020, Alabama Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
The interchange will be the primary access point to the $1.6 billion Mazda Toyota plant.
The interchange work does not address concerns of Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle about traffic flow on I-565. Battle has called for additional lanes to be built to maintain three lanes of traffic in each direction to I-65.

The latest update IS a seven story building. Construction should begin early 2019. Lot of activity coming to that intersection Clinton and Monroe, with the VBC expansion underway across the street.

Meanwhile down the street at the AC Hotel the opening is quickly approaching (currently January but could be earlier). There will not be a parking deck at this time for the hotel as it was initially presented. The streetscape (Monroe) in front is being completely reworked with new landscaping. stone/brick work and lighting.

With all the opportunity North of the VBC we need some unique architecture *crosses fingers*

You can find Town Madison's latest conceptual site plan on page 17-18: https://townmadison.com/wp-content/u...VFgluK3e2A5YpI

The plan on the west side of the exchange looks well-designed and aesthetic. It seems that they have secured taco bell and starbucks on outparcel section. Kinda unimpressed with "eye wear" and "bank" on outparcel though.

Looks like the Outlet Mall Idea is done unless they just separate the stores.

Doesn’t look like there’s a space for a Lowe’s or Home Depot on the east side, but those two large lots on the west side, facing Wall-Triana (across from the convenience store) look like a good place for one. Still hoping!

I can’t tell what that red logo is for the out parcel below Starbucks is. A closer Taco Bell is nice, though. Also, the sheer amount of parking seems crazy when seen from that view. I know it’s going better when done and not as noticeable, but man, that makes the whole project look like a gigantic expanse of asphalt.

I see a Taco Bell on the east side, with its back to Zierdt Rd. Haven't found the Starbucks yet, unless it's the green logo just south of Taco Bell. I was thinking, why would they build a Taco Bell on the west end, when there's one that was recently rebuilt not far away on Madison Blvd? Looks like it's on the east side though.

Also don't see a Chic-fil-A. There really should be one though.

The larger building that's currently under construction pretty much at the intersection of Zierdt and Town Madison Blvd. appears to be a grocery store, but it doesn't say which one. I don't think it'd be a Publix since there's one across the street, and a new one 3 miles to the south on Zierdt at Martin Rd.

I don't think there's been any construction started on the Margaritaville Hotel, but there's so much going on around the stadium that it's hard to tell.

We took a drive through Town Madison Blvd to Wall Triana this afternoon, and there are some of the worlds largest piles of slag gravel sitting at the end. Looks like they're working in earnest on the ramps of the new interchange.
