Thank you. I'm struggling to see how 255 will eventually connect to 72E? There doesn't appear to be a clean cut route for a road that size now, much less 15 to 20 years from now with all the development.

They might try to connect it to Moores Mill, and reconstruct that road all the way to 72.

Would seem to be the easiest way at this point.

Or they could just spend the money to buy the land necessary to do it another way. I guess we'll see.

Maybe it'll just be a dead end road.

The point is that the USPS can't even do what they are designed for and have always done anymore much less adjust to the new areas of delivering packages. Birmingham cannot handle our mail, especially with all of the growth we are having. This is why Dale Strong is making a push to reopen our sorting facility.

Like most of his constituents, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong has had enough of mail deliveries not making it on time in North Alabama and is working to fix the problem. The congressman said he has formally requested the U.S. Postal Service invest in a new Processing and Distribution Facility in Huntsville. In a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Strong (R-Monrovia) said his office had received a “substantial volume” of complaints from constituents “voicing their experiences with shortcomings of the once reliable USPS system.”

You mean where the overpasses at Shields and Moores Mill are? Oh wait that hasn't happened either. These were fully funded at one time but removed for some reason.

Over a decade delay already, with no activity in our lifetime. According to this report (October 2023) Construction isn't scheduled until 2051!

As usual the states refusal to be proactive in acquiring right of way will result in a lot more expensive and difficult project. The huge amount of development , especially housing will be an issue. We are seeing the same thing on US 72. These projects have been know about for decades but the state knows if they do nothing the chances of completion drops significantly which enables them to funnel funds elsewhere.

The route for the Northern Bypass has changed over the years but they knew about where it would connect to Route 72 East. Naturally even this is subject to change. The problem is the longer they delay the completion of it the harder and more expensive it will be to complete.

And in the meantime, i suppose I-422 is still being done, a useless super expensive project.?

The project's budget is $5.445 billion; upon completion, the Northern Beltline will be the most expensive road in Alabama's history, and among the most expensive per mile ever built in the United States.

Yeah, those maps are outdated. It will cut right through a newly developed subdivision on Shields Road.

Also they'd have to knock down Madison County Inspection and Water Department buildings.

If they want it bad enough it will eventually get built despite what's in the way. After all how many homes and businesses got displaced when they built I565?
