Why waste effort arguing about Tuscaloosa vs. Huntsville, when you could be considering more important things like...

Bud vs. Coors
Britney vs. Kenny G
Palin vs. Bachman

Is this serious? What is it lacking? Jobs, and well paying technology jobs at that. Highest masters and PHD population.

High quality nightlife does not make a city. Not when it is a city of professionals.

I had never heard of Tuscaloosa before moving to Alabama. I also only know of HSV b/c back in DC I worked with the missile and aviation guys in Huntsville.

Tuscaloosa has no national reputation other than through college football I lived in Tuscaloosa, Huntsville doesn't lack anything that Tuscaloosa has besides college entertainment and more cultural stuff that's associated with UA. Me personally i'm not big fan of Huntsville but what it does have is great good paying jobs if you are in a technical field, cheap cost of living, a good amount of retail and restaurants for its size and decent schools, that's what matters to most people that are trying to raise a family. And FYI besides college parties the night light in Tuscaloosa sucks as much as Huntsville and Tuscaloosa is the deadest place on earth between May and August when school is out. I'm saying this as someone who regrets moving to Huntsville as a young professional but I can see what is appealing about Huntsville to some people.

Seriously? Nobody but football fans even have a clue Tuscaloosa exists much less where it is located. Tuscaloosa is nothing more than your typical college town and not the greatest in that area. Huntsville has excellent high paying technology jobs and has consistently been at the top of growth and economic development in Alabama for years. It has also been ranked one of the best places to live by nationally recognized magazines and rankings many times over the last ten years. Huntsville is also a major player worldwide in the technology, research and space industry.

Huntsville is also a solid and robust market for real estate investing, as a cover story in the current issue of Personal Real Estate Investor Magazine points out in a very flattering article.

National reputation? Insofar as that goes, Huntsville is tops among all Alabama cities, whereas Tuscaloosa is downright irrelevant in comparison.

However, Montgomery is doing quite well thanks to the hottest car company on the planet, which happens to be Hyundai.

That's all well and good, but by having most of its eggs in ONE basket, Huntsville may be in for a BIG surprise when the defense budget starts getting slashed to the bone.......

Huntsville is a little more diverse than you realize. Of course on the other hand, people have been saying Huntsville was going to be in trouble when the defense or space spending was cut for about 40 years now.

The defense budget....you know what goes on here in Huntsville? When I ask that, I'm not trying to be a smart @ss....it's a legit question...and most people in Aviation does not even know about what happens in Aviation begins here...

Do you that EVERY helicopter in the Army inventory starts here in Huntsville? ( I say that meaning all the decisions are made here about helicopters) All the logistics that go along with that?

How about Missile technology? That all starts here also.

Just those 2 things will continue here in Huntsville and just those 2 things employe thousands of people....

Lets see, the ATC (Aviation Test Center) has just moved here..

Army Material Command (AMC) just moved here.....

EOD is here, but they may have moved or is about to move....

I believe the Marines still do training here....

I'm sure others can add to the list......so many things go on here "Military" I do not think 1 person could know everything....

Oh and don't worry, they (the military) has already said that Education is going to take a massive hit.....My friends have already received mail confirming this....EarmyU and TA are taking a HUGE hit....
