You stole my thunder. The one in League City is also great. Freakin huge portions, too. I'd also say about 80% of their clientele are morbidly obese.

Mason Jar on I-10 near Katy is great. Live Oak Grill in Stafford is really good as well.

Barbecue Inn, Crosstimbers at Yale.

Also Kelly's has a great one.

Mama's on Westheimer is also good.

Doesn't Luby's still have those gigantic CFS's?

Someone wrote me that they changed their recipe from cracker crumbs to batter & that it's not good as it used to be.

Thanks for all the suggestions. You're making this tough.

I had actually wanted to go to Live Oak Grill for burgers not too long ago and I used to LOVE Mama's in San Antonio for their CFS and fried mushrooms (yeah...and I wonder why I have elevated cholesterol) so I'm going to give my brother the choice of those two for tomorrow.

Will definitely put BBQ Inn @ Crosstimbers and Kelly's on the short list for next time.

tstone - I don't know if "morbidly obese" makes me want to run to or away from Kelly's!

Kellys portions are huge, but their CFS is nothing great - just big. The gravy with the chicken stock gets on my nerves. It should at least be made with beef stock.

Only Kelley's I've been to is the one off 45 in La Marque which IIRC is the original one. And that was probably upwards of 10 years ago. Don't recall the CFS being great, but it filled a hole two nights in a row thanks to a takeout box. Thing was massive.
