In-N-Out Burger Heads To Dallas, Texas

Ok, so it's only coming to Dallas so far, but they're building a new processing facility in Texas so I'm thinking that will mean expansion throughout the state. Yippeeeee!!

I may be able to get an animal-style double double without going all the way back to CA. (hmmm...maybe that's not such a good thing)

I knew they limited expansion due to distribution issue. But with a new processing facility to be in TX, I bet w/in 2 years Houston has one.

I hope Houston gets one soon because I've heard some great things about In 'n' Out!

I've eaten In-N-Out. I'd still take Burger Shack, Sam's or Smashburger over them. I'd rank it with 5 Guys.

I think it's wrong. You should have In-N-Out Burger in California, Nevada... maybe Arizona, New Mexico.

In the South, you got Krystals or Checkers...

New York's got White Castles...

Denver's got Good Times...

And Texas already has Whataburger. If they get In-n-out, it will devalue their regional great.

One of the best burgers I've had lately while we're on the subject is on Chicago Ohare... don't know what concourse/terminal it is... 2F maybe... the one for United. They have a nice burger. Portillos...although known for their dogs, makes a pretty good burger.

Pueblo Colorado has the Star Bar.

Texas ought to hold fast to their tradition. Why does everything have to get franchised to death?

I grew up in Texas and with Whataburger, and that was fine. But having gotten out and about a bit (both to other franchised fast-food places and mom/pop stype burger joints) I just don't get the hype about Whataburger. When we moved back here, I was excited to introduce my husband (who's from PA) to Whataburger. Their burgers were pretty good, but the shakes were kind of foamy, nasty and way too syrup-y sweet. He wasn't impressed and I was stuck wondering whether WB had changed or I'd forgotten what it was like.

Anyhow, Whataburger is fine, but not really a stand-out option.

In-N-Out is great on a road trip back from Vegas to LA. Animal style double and animal fries does sounds good, but I'm actually waiting for Carl's Jr to get here. Bastrop is too far.

As for the Whataburger huggers. With all the options here in Houston, why? Is it the best of the cheap? I can't imagine anyone telling me its better than even Becks Prime.

Where will the processing facility be located?

My wife is a die-hard Whataburger freak.....me, I don't really get it... I was born here, and have eaten them all my life, but I don't think they're anything special.

White Castles are definitely not limited to NY....I ate them in Georgia and the Carolinas...definitely a niche market. They're unique, but not spectacular.

I've always preferred the independents, but my two favorites are out of business - Burger Haus on Park Place, and Tookies in Seabrook.
