Oil spill aside, has anyone done a fishing charter or party boat out of Galveston? I know some people who are interested in coming down to do some gulf fishing for Redfish. I'm not much of a fisherman so I was looking for recommended services or guides.

I can't answer your question, but this might be a better place to ask:

I hate going alone on those damn party boats but if a group of us want to get together and do so then I'm game. Maybe this might work better then that 500 page thread about a CD Houston meetup that never happened because some people thought we were all mostly hardened criminals.

Here is what I dislike about party boats Oildog. The greed factor sets in so easily because it is so easy to pull fish after fish over the rail. It becomes a game.....who can catch the most wins. No one can possibly eat that much fish including me and all I eat is fish. I eat no meat. To me it is a waste of precious resource of our fisheries. When I used to fish the professional BASS circuits it was all catch and release. Could you imagine being on a party boat and tossing fish back? Everyone would point and laugh at you. They might even toss you to the sharks.

Carry on................my rant for the day.

Look at Galveston.com and hire a guide on his private boat. It is alot of fun you can do oil rigs, bay or deep sea. I recommend Bay fishing. You catch plenty and you dont get sea sick.

Kinda off topic, but if anyone needs and extra person or their charter, let me know, I would be more than happy to pay my own way. Also have most of my own equipment, no BS here.
