and thinking about taking a little weekend trip over. We are in the Dallas area. A couple of questions? Are the beaches pretty clean? Has there been good clean up of the aftermath of the Hurricane?

Is Moody Gardens a pretty place to visit? Any other ideas of what to do with three kids (ages 18, 12 and 8) while in Galveston?

Ok, so that was more than a couple Thanks for any advice

Was in Austin two weeks ago - looking to do something different, took my three adult children on a five hour Kayak ride down the Guadeloupe river in san marcos.

Austin Kayak Tours from Live Love Paddle (http://www.livelovepaddle.com/pictures.html - broken link)

It was a few dollars for four of us, but it was worth it. Now I'm hooked on Kayak....

Have fun...

Oh no! Well I got the idea from a coworker who will be vacationing there next week. I guess I'll ask him when he comes back. He is planning on taking his family to Moody Gardens. I've just never been and since we don't live that far, well....it's just an idea. Maybe not get IN the water but drive by the beach and go shopping there? I heard Galveston has some cute shops.

I'd take the kids to Schlitterbahn instead of the beach. Schlitterbahn Galveston Island - is a family-owned, family-friendly waterpark!
