Midtown Targeted By Criminals - Houston News Story - KPRC Houston (http://www.click2houston.com/news/22679079/detail.html - broken link)

Interesting...but now that it's hit mainstream media, I expect that the police presence will rise exponentially.

That's sad to hear. I think things are getting pretty bad crimewise everywhere. My fine arts school usually has a few thefts in a month but now there's one every day. People are stealing ANYTHING and everything....from cars to Claire's earrings. Anywho, Midtown is probably a naturally good place to go, for criminals, because of all the party-hearty, happy-go-lucky, drunk professionals around. I hope they get better police presence around there.

Crime in the inner city where non-streetwise people who grew up in the suburbs congregate and get drunk? Who woulda thunk it.

I lived there for about 5 years. There was crime. Usually the transients who'd wander over from the central Bus terminal.
