Where is best in Houston etc etc ...all that has been covered in various topics already.

There is no drive to work as I work outside the US mostly and only need to vist the Houston office (Telge Rd, in the NW) infrequently. Because the office is in the NW that is where we are going to settle, at least for our first house move.

My requirements for our house are as follows:
Minimum 2500 sf
Must have two floors.
Mature plot, must have large trees and space for the two dogs to be happy
Large Garage / workshop - Two Classic cars, one under rebuild
Limit $200k

The main question is which areas in the NW are wooded, or at least have a mature feel? I like Jersey Village & my wife loves Cypress, any BIG negatives about either of those areas?

Check out the Longwood area (77429) and its surrounding neighborhoods Northlake Forest, Lakewood Forest, Lakewood Glen, Coles Crossing, Stillwater Village. Great schools, big trees, nice big area surrounded by other nice big areas.

You should check out all the communities along Barker Cypress. Too many to name here but they are all great.

We are in north Cypress and LOVE it. Lots of mature trees, convenient to everything, good schools, great neighborhoods and friendly people.
Some of the housing is older- which we WANTED- but some don't due to less A/C efficiency. We think having shade trees makes up for it.
Another downside is very few sidewalks- but that seems to be everywhere in the Houston area. (Longwood does have sidewalks.)

You picked the right side of town for what you want - you have a surplus - good luck - this will be pretty easy.

We just moved to Stonegate in the Cypress area last summer and we love it. I know there are some nice neighborhoods in this area and we have lots of ammenities close by but not quite as crowded as when you get on the other side of the Beltway. We've also been very happy with the schools. (Cy-Fair)
