Everything I have come across sounds sketchy, they want me to purchase something first.

A real job would never ask you to purchase anything to work there. There are a few legit work at home jobs doing sales or customer service over the phone for real companies but these jobs can be hard to get due to high demand. Usually if you want to work at home you need to start your own business.

Medical transcription, but you would have to have specialized training from a couple of legit schools, plus it can be a difficult job to make any real money in, especially at first since you are mostly paid on production. Most companies require two years of experience in acute care (hospital) transcription with knowledge in a variety of specialites. While I'm not a fan of the AHDI, you can get some good information there - Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity .

I used to work at home as a transcriptionist but now work in a doctor's office. Sometimes I miss working at home.

Good luck with finding your work-at-home job - they are out there, but can be difficult to find.

TeleTech@Home
www.WestAtHome.com
www.higherone.com
www.alpineaccess.com

All are customer service (home based call center) positions. Between $10 and $13 an hr. I have worked for several "legit" work from home companies and never had to pay a start-up fee. Good luck!!!

Both of these have a small monthly fee to receive the job postings but FlexJobs.com and VirtualVocations.com are both good sources to find work-from-home jobs. Competitive to land an offer, though...these jobs are high quality and they receive thousands of applicants.
