The crime you where probably referring to was the string of robberies that a couple of people where doing around Silverlake and a couple other areas of Pearland. I believe this was at the beginning of the year and went on for a few weeks.

They finally caught they guys trying to steal a car in another neighborhood. The robberies have pretty much stopped now. You can never be too safe though.

It's actually a substation. But it definitely helps to have the officers around.

The substation acts as an office for the cops. They have access to internet, phones, and lots of other stuff that the regular station has. Instead of driving back to their base station, they can come to the substation in Silverlake.
