Right now I am on Verizon. Have almost no coverage issues. No dropped calls, always good signal strength, yada yada.

I am considering an iPhone, and that requires a switch to ATT. I have read (in several national forum) how poor ATT's coverage is. Lots of dropped calls, etc. Many iPhone users echoed this comment, "Love the phone, hate the service".

But I realize that coverage can vary dramatically from area to area. What I am wondering is how Houston is for ATT? Are you iPhone users having problems like most of the country, or is Houston (for whatever reason) better? I do *not* want to switch if I will have signal quality issues, dropped calls or coverage problems.

Thanks!

every now and then i drop a call, and i have an older iphone (to cheap to buy the newest) so the 3g can be slow at times but for the most part it works well all over houston. i even get decent 3g and cell service at the ranch in south texas which i could not get any service from sprint before i got my iphone.

If you are in the greater metro area you really shouldn't have any issues with getting 3G...I've had an iphone for over a year and, other than the odd dropped call or bad connection, I've been satisfied.

The iphone is such a superior phone to anything out on the market anywhere I would probably put up with worse service just to have the capabilities of the phone...

Really? I dropped Verizon because of NE. Texas. NO COVERAGE. No 3G bars. And I got my voice mails a week later. It was bad. ATT is very good so far.

You can "jailbreak" the iphone and keep on using Verizon. I heard the contract between Apple and ATT is gonna expire next year and that will open up the market to Tmobile, Verizon etc.

You won't have an issue here if you choose to go with ATT.

I love ATT here in Houston. Never any problems getting 3G..especially compared to DH who has Verizon. He drops call constantly.

Add me to the list of happy AT&T/iphone customers. No problem with coverage or dropped calls.

I've been having dropout/missed call issues with AT&T since I moved to the Cinco Ranch area.
My wife, who has Sprint, has been having the same issues as well.
Prior to that I've never had any coverage issues with AT&T going all the way back to 2002, when they were Cingular.

Verizon is known to have the best coverage in Texas and Sprint the worst. However if you never leave the metro area you are usually fine with whoever.
