Thanks everyone for your replies. We pulled the trigger tonight (it was actually for my wife) and picked up a 3GS/32GB. If she has any problems, I'll tell her to call y'all!

You won't have an issue here if you choose to go with ATT.
If Apple has half a brain, they will stop this exclusivity nonsense with AT&T. The iPhone would be unbeatable if there was a choice of carrier.

Well, like I said, that's what I read in the NY times a few weeks ago. No idea if they will still renew the contract though. I hate ATT too And I agree, Apple would be so much better off.

I hate AT&T in general but really hate them in the Clear Lake area, I had an iphone and got rid of it and when over to Sprint, actually use to have them before and hated them but so far they are doing very well.

But the other thing I hated about the service was how they liked to charge extra for everything text, data, etc, Sprint is one low price for everything.

I hope they will end the contract. One can just hope. ATT is too expensive.

My wife, who has Sprint, has been having the same issues as well.
Prior to that I've never had any coverage issues with AT&T going all the way back to 2002, when they were Cingular.
I had that problem with Sprint when I moved to Cinco Ranch 6 years ago. When I found out Virgin Mobile used the Sprint network, I had to switch to Verizon. Verizon and T-Mobile only have marginal signals here and my first smartphone--the G1--can only get an EDGE signal in my house. I couldn't get the iPhone because of AT&T's reputation on the signal (on par with Sprint) especially when it comes to my neighborhood. Why is the service so bad here?

I hope so. I want to plug it in to listen to other cities' radio stations on my car radio. The G1 doesn't have anything similar to the AOL radio app.

I've got the new iPhone 3GS, best gadget I've ever bought. I haven't had any problems with AT&T in the Houston area.

I read that Houston will be one of the first markets for AT&T's HSPA 7.2 standard that'll increases the broadband from 750 kbps to about 7 mbps. The older iPhones won't be able to take advantage of the new standard, however the new 3GS was built HSPA ready and will work. AT&T will be rolling out more new devices to work with the new service.

Here's the article.

I would like to resurrect this old thread.

I am considering an Iphone 4 and will most likely move back to houston. I would like to know how Att service is for those of you who have this phone and how you like it in the houston area, more in the medical center but an overview would be fine.

And, has ATT upgraded to HSPA like T-mobile? Is the Iphone 4 HSPA ready?

Thanks for the replies
