Thanks Dmclean1! You cleared up alot of questions I had about the lenses.

I guess I had to wrong assumption about what the lenses were supposed to do. I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone. I thought they would be a substitute for sunglasses but since this isn't the case I will get some prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses.

Thanks again!

My 10 year old daughter love her transition lenses and has had them for the last 5 years. It helps with reducing eye strain and keeps her from losing her glasses while switching between pairs.

My sister is an opthalmologist and she is not a big fan of these transition lenses. But what she does is get regular presciption glasses that will accept a clip-on set of dark lenses. Not all glasses will do this, it has to be specific pair but it is really easy to clip those dark lenses in place and doesn't require changing glasses and it works better if you really need dark lenses.

Does this mean when I am in the sun. My view will be dark like I am wearing sunglasses?

I have transition glasses for the last 20 years and like them a lot. I had all shades already and think that the grey ones get darker than brown or green. For the driving I use a spiral clip on ( from Costco) . No problem with watching TV or working on computer.

I also think transitions are slightly blurry inside, and are not to be used for driving in sunlight as per my Dr's instructions

They will not darken unless hit by direct sunlight. If you're driving, don't count on them to double as sunglasses.

We had thisPrescription lenses and Spectales..

They're good except for not darkening in the car. If you don't mind getting sunglasses as well, you'll like them. When I had them I left my sunglasses in the car and for all those other times I'd go outside - yard work, walking to lunch from the office - these were great.
